Dr. Alexander Stoffel is a Lecturer in International Politics at Queen Mary University of London's School of Politics and International Relations. He holds a BA from the University of Oxford, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a PhD from Queen Mary University of London. His research critically examines intersections of sexuality, race, and desire within capitalist systems, with a focus on transnational struggles for sexual freedom. He is an editor of Historical Materialism and convenes the Sexuality and Political Economy Network. His first monograph, Eros and Empire, forthcoming with Stanford University Press, rethinks U.S.-based queer movements through a transnational lens.

Teaching includes courses on gender and capitalism, qualitative methods, and international relations theory. He advises students on gender/sexuality, imperialism, and Marxist approaches.
