Alexander Pries is a Research Fellow at the Free University of Berlin, affiliated with the Center for Civil Society Research. His work focuses on political sociology, particularly the mobilization of new political identities and civil society’s role in reshaping Europe’s social and political landscape. He also investigates party competition structures and historical differences within Germany and European countries.

Methodologically, he specializes in quantitative survey research and advanced analytical tools like multilevel models, structural equation modeling, and multiple correspondence analysis. His prior roles included work as a student assistant in the Department of Political Science at Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel and data analysis positions with the Heinrich Böll Foundation and Alliance 90/The Greens.
