Alexander Kempf

Professor Alexander Kempf is a distinguished faculty member at the University of Cologne, where he has served as Professor of Business Administration and Director of the Department of Business Administration and Finance since 1999. He is also the Managing Director of the Center for Financial Research Cologne (CFR) since 2004 and has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities, and the Arts since 2006.

His research focuses on mutual and hedge funds, asset management, risk management, and empirical finance. Professor Kempf has made significant contributions to understanding fund manager behavior, information diffusion within fund families, portfolio optimization, and the valuation of financial assets. His work bridges theoretical finance with practical applications in investment management.
