Alexander Hollmann serves as Associate Professor of Classics and holds the Vidalakis Professorship of Culture, Excellence, and Spirituality in Hellenic Studies at the University of Washington. Chairs the UW Hellenic Studies program.
Research focuses on Greek literary prose, particularly Herodotus' interpretation of signs, and Greek religion/magic. Published extensively on curse tablets from Antioch and continuity between Ancient/Modern Greece. Current project catalogues magical texts from Caesarea and Syria.
