Alexander Geurts

Alexander Geurts is Professor and Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation at Radboud University Medical Center, and Principal Investigator at the Donders Centre for Brain Cognition and Behaviour. He obtained his MD (1987) and PhD (1992) from Radboud University, with certifications in physiatry (1997) and clinical epidemiology (2001). His research integrates translational and applied studies in neurorehabilitation, focusing on motor recovery, balance, and gait disorders in stroke, spinal cord injury, and neuromuscular diseases.

Research Focus
Geurts leads national neurorehabilitation programs and educational initiatives for allied health professionals. His work emphasizes:

• Mechanisms of motor control and functional recovery
• Development of diagnostic/prognostic tools
• Intervention efficacy for neurological populations

Teaching
He coordinates multiple courses including Neurorehabilitation, Movement Science, and internships across biology and medical programs at Radboud University.
