Alexander Douglas is Lecturer in Music Education at King's College London, where he teaches philosophy and anthropology of music with anticolonial and antiracist pedagogical frameworks. He holds research associateships in Philosophy and Medicine at KCL and serves as EDI Lead in the Department of Music.
His interdisciplinary research spans music philosophy, phenomenology, critical medical humanities, and African-diasporic sacred traditions. Current projects investigate pain and racial identity in medical contexts and develop creative health interventions through the Artists Represent Recovery Network.
An award-winning jazz pianist and conductor, Douglas directs the Choir of King's College London and creates compositions bridging gospel, classical, and jazz traditions. He chairs the EDI Working Group for the Royal Musical Association Music Philosophy Study Group and leads decolonization initiatives in music curricula and performance practice.
