Alexander A. Bauer

Dr. Alexander A. Bauer is a Faculty Associate Professor in Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies at Queens College, CUNY. His research examines trade networks, material culture, and heritage ethics across Near Eastern and Eurasian contexts. He applies semiotic frameworks to understand cultural interactions through archaeological evidence.

As a cross-disciplinary scholar, Dr. Bauer investigates how material objects mediate social relationships and cultural identities in ancient societies. His work also addresses contemporary issues in cultural heritage preservation and ethics. He maintains an active research profile in Near Eastern archaeology with fieldwork experience across the region.
