Alexa Rihana-Abdallah

Alexa Rihana-Abdallah is Professor of Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy's College of Engineering and Science. She teaches courses on water and wastewater treatment, environmental chemistry, environmental microbiology, and environmental engineering.

Her research examines physicochemical and biological processes governing contaminant bio-availability and in-situ bioremediation potential. Current investigations focus on groundwater contamination, industrial waste disposal, water pollution mitigation, and environmental justice issues in waste management.

Dr. Rihana-Abdallah established and directs the Environmental Research Laboratory. She joined the university in 2000 after completing her doctorate at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
