Alex Wright is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics, and Astronomy at Queen's University, and a Continuing Research Scientist with the Institute of Particle Physics. He leads research in experimental particle astrophysics, focusing on neutrino properties, dark matter detection, and low-background techniques. His primary affiliation is with Queen’s University’s Arts & Science faculty.
Wright holds a PhD from Queen's University (2009) and previously worked as a Dicke Fellow at Princeton University. His work involves large-scale experiments such as SNO+, DarkSide, and Borexino, which study solar neutrinos, neutrino oscillations, and potential particle dark matter candidates. These experiments operate in ultra-low background environments, often deep underground, to minimize cosmic-ray interference.
His research interests include low-energy solar neutrinos, neutrinoless double beta decay, geoneutrinos, reactor antineutrinos, and supernova neutrinos.
