Alex Weisiger

Dr. Alex Weisiger is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. His research examines international conflict dynamics, including war initiation, duration, and termination. His book 'Logics of War' explains variation in conflict intensity and duration through commitment problems and informational asymmetries.

Weisiger's current work analyzes regional conflict systems, reputation in international politics, and systemic influences on democratic peace. He employs formal modeling and historical analysis to study how states make decisions about using force. Recent publications appear in Perspectives on Politics and Political Behavior.

Before joining Penn, Weisiger held fellowships at Harvard University's Belfer Center and Olin Institute. He teaches courses on international relations theory, game theory applications, war termination processes, and peacebuilding strategies.
