Dr Alex Wawryk is a Senior Lecturer at the Adelaide Law School, University of Adelaide, within the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics. She holds First Class degrees in Economics and Law, as well as a PhD in Law from the University of Adelaide. Additionally, she is a practicing Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
Her research focuses on energy and natural resources law, including renewable energy law, petroleum regulation, environmental law, and Aboriginal cultural heritage protection. She has examined legal barriers to renewable energy development, environmental regulation of mining and petroleum industries, and restoration projects in South Australia. She currently directs the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Research Unit at Adelaide Law School.
Teaching responsibilities include Mining and Energy Law, Environmental Law, Climate Change Law, Aboriginal Peoples and the Law, and Contract Law. Her work also extends to analyzing offshore wind energy regulations, hydrogen developments in South Australia, and international petroleum environmental standards post-Macondo well incident.
