Alex Waterman

Dr. Alex Waterman is a Lecturer in Peace Studies and International Development at the University of Bradford's School of Social Sciences (Faculty of Management, Law & Social Sciences) since September 2023. Previously, he served as a Research Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (Hamburg, 2021-2023) and University of Leeds (2015-2021), where he also earned a teaching award in 2021. His research focuses on civil war dynamics, particularly order construction in conflict zones, knowledge processes in warfare, and ceasefire mechanisms. He co-edits the journal Civil Wars since 2022 and has affiliations with institutions like the Modern War Institute at West Point and Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies. His work combines field research from Northeast India with comparative global analysis, emphasizing policy-relevant insights for conflict resolution.
