Dr. Alex Vukovic is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and serves as Vice-President of the Terrestrial Wireless Systems Research Branch at Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC). His work focuses on executive leadership in innovative wireless network communication concepts, broadband radio communication technologies, and supporting Canada’s ICT sector. With over 20 years of experience in industry, academia, and research, he previously managed technology integration at Nortel and has held roles such as Canadian Technology Ambassador, fostering Canada-Japan photonics collaboration.
He is an internationally recognized authority with expertise in network architectures, having authored over 100 journal/conference papers, chaired major international conferences (e.g., Wireless and Optical Communications 2007-2008), and contributed to IEEE and industry committees. His leadership has earned awards including the NSERC Synergy Award and Industry Canada Award.
Dr. Vukovic holds a M.A.Sc. (1987) and Ph.D. (1990) from the University of Belgrade and Friedrich-Alexander University (Germany). He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Professional Engineer in Ontario, and maintains an interest in music through piano studies at a Conservatorium.
