Dr. Alex Tomy is a Senior Lecturer in Information Technology and Internet of Things (IoT) at La Trobe University, Australia. He serves as Deputy Teaching and Learning Coordinator in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology and Course Advisor for the Master of Information Technology at La Trobe's Bendigo campus. His academic journey includes a PhD and Master’s from La Trobe University, and a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Mahatma Gandhi University, India. With seven years of industry experience, he focuses on bridging academia and industry through teaching and research.
His research interests span data analytics, IoT applications, real-time data stream processing, and digital health. He has secured grants such as the SmartSat CRC Project grant and published extensively in international journals/conferences. He has been recognized with awards like the SCEMS Teaching Excellence Award (2023) and the Higher Education Academy Fellowship. His teaching roles include designing courses like Project Management, IoT Protocols, and IT Security.
Dr. Tomy collaborates with industry and government on impactful projects and actively reviews for journals like Computers, Technologies, and International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research. He is open to supervising PhD students and industry collaborations.
