Dr. Alex Posecznick is an Associate Faculty member and Program Manager in the Education, Culture, and Society program at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE). He serves as Associate Director of the Ethnography in Education Research Forum, a leading conference promoting qualitative research methodologies. His research critically examines meritocracy, higher education policy, and institutional legitimacy, with a focus on how colleges navigate marketplace pressures while addressing equity challenges.
He holds a Ph.D. and has published extensively on topics such as college admissions ethics and neoliberalism in education. His 2017 book Selling Hope and College analyzes the struggles of unranked institutions to balance social justice missions with enrollment demands.
