Alex Lyness

Alex Lyness is a Visiting Fellow in Healthcare Engineering and Chartered Engineer (CEng, MIMechE) with extensive industry experience leading R&D teams and international collaborations between multinational corporations, academic institutions, and medtech startups to develop next-generation drug delivery systems.

His academic background includes:

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering
• MSc in Engineering Design
• BEng in Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering

Research focuses on medical device innovation for cellular and drug delivery systems, including pancreatic islet delivery mechanisms, CE-marked skin cell delivery devices for genetic disease treatment, and clinically validated needle-free injection technologies. His work bridges biomedical engineering with translational medicine to advance clinical applications.
