Alex Hawkey

Dr. Alex Hawkey serves as an Associate Research Fellow at Western Sydney University's Translational Health Research Institute (THRI), focusing on critical public health and cultural inquiry to address sexual and reproductive health inequities among marginalized women, particularly migrants and refugees.

Her academic credentials include a Master of Public Health and PhD from Western Sydney University, establishing her foundation in community-centered health research.

Dr. Hawkey's research program investigates:

• Fertility and contraception access barriers
• Cultural dimensions of sexuality and sexual violence
• Multicultural perspectives on menstruation and menopause
• Critical health psychology frameworks

She pioneers arts-based methodologies like body mapping and photovoice to co-design interventions with communities, generating deeper insights into sensitive health experiences through visual and narrative approaches.
