Dr. Alex Fletcher is a Lecturer in Film Practice at the University of the Arts London, specializing in experimental cinema and critical theory. He holds a PhD from Kingston University (2018) and teaches on the MA Film Practice (Online) program. His research explores experimental film forms, archival practices, and the intersections of media theory with Marxism, postcolonialism, and labor politics. Fletcher is an editor of Philosophy of Photography, co-convenor of the 'Marxism in Culture' seminar series, and co-leader of BAFTSS's 'Essay Film' special interest group. He co-founded the Photoecologies Study Group, focusing on photomedia as environmental assemblages. His work critiques the representation of violence, labor, and globalization in contemporary media.
