Alex Davis

Dr. Alex Davis is a Senior Lecturer in the School of English at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on late medieval and early modern literature and culture, with specialties in the English Renaissance, Shakespeare, and medievalism. He holds academic qualifications from the University of Oxford (BA), University of London (MA), and University of London (PhD). Davis has authored three books, including *Imagining Inheritance From Chaucer to Shakespeare* (2020), and co-edited the *MHRA Tudor and Stuart Translations edition of Erasmus in English* (2023). He supervises PhD students in Renaissance literature and related fields.

His research explores intersections between medieval traditions and early modern literary innovations, with a focus on themes like chivalry, historical fiction, and cultural inheritance. Notable works include analyses of *The Faerie Queene* and medieval texts like *The Tale of Gamelyn*. Davis has secured research funding through the AHRC for projects on Renaissance historical fiction.
