Alex C. Geisinger

Alex C. Geisinger was a Professor of Law at Drexel University’s Kline School of Law, where he served as a founding faculty member. His research focused on environmental law, tort law, law and social norms, and environmental justice, emphasizing how legal frameworks interact with psychology and culture. He held prior roles as Associate Dean and Professor at Valparaiso University School of Law and visiting positions at William & Mary and Northwestern University Law Schools. Geisinger practiced environmental law with Day, Berry & Howard in Connecticut and collaborated with organizations like LEAF and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation on environmental advocacy.

Geisinger earned his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law (with high honors) and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, alongside a B.A. (high honors) from Franklin & Marshall College. He authored foundational articles on expressive law, social norms, and environmental justice, including works in the Iowa Law Review and Michigan Law Review. His scholarship addressed topics like the economic impacts of development on marginalized communities and the cognitive underpinnings of legal bias.

He received the Dean Jennifer L. Rosato Excellence in the Classroom Award twice (2014, 2018) and served as a consulting member of the American Law Institute’s Restatement Third of Torts. His professional service included leadership roles in the Association of American Law Schools and the Indiana Bar Foundation. Geisinger’s work bridged academia and practice, influencing legal education, environmental policy, and interdisciplinary legal theory.
