Alex Bugg

Alex Bugg is a Researcher at the School of Sport and Physical Activity, affiliated with the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University. He holds a BSc in Sport Science (2015) and MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Science (2017). His full-time role involves research in musculoskeletal health, workplace wellbeing, and interventions for long-term conditions. He is concurrently pursuing a doctorate part-time on musculoskeletal health support in workplaces.

His work spans clinical populations (cardiac patients, MS sufferers, long-COVID patients) and workplace health programs like SHUWellness.

Teaching responsibilities include lecturing on modules like 'Physical Activity and Health' for MSc and BSc programs. He supervises placement students and co-leads research at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, emphasizing practical application of research findings.

Recent projects include evaluating active travel interventions for musculoskeletal conditions, developing clinical exercise pathways, and assessing workforce wellbeing strategies for NHS Charities Together.
