About
Dr. Alessio Delogu is a Professor in Developmental Neurobiology at King's College London, affiliated with the School of Neuroscience and the Department of Basic & Clinical Neuroscience. His research focuses on inhibitory neuronal development and function in subcortical brain structures, particularly the thalamus, with implications for sensory perception, attention, sleep regulation, and psychiatric disorders. His lab employs functional neuroanatomy, genetics, and behavioral assays to study neural circuits in health and disease.
Key collaborators include Prof. Stephen Brickley (Imperial College London), Dr. Katherine Long (King's College London), and Dr. Tomomi Shimogori (RIKEN Centre for Brain Science). He leads the King’s Epilepsy Research Collective (KERC), fostering interdisciplinary collaborations across King’s faculties.
Dr. Delogu’s research interests span thalamic circuitry, circadian rhythms, and neurodevelopmental disorders. His recent articles highlight discoveries in orexinergic signaling, GABAergic neuron roles in circadian light responses, and thalamic interneuron origins. He has received prestigious awards including EMBO Fellowships and Marie Curie grants, and actively contributes to academic activities including conference participation and peer review.
