Alessandro Baraldi

Alessandro Baraldi is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Trieste (UNITS). His research focuses on Experimental Physics of Matter and Applications, particularly in the areas of Condensed Matter Physics and Nanotechnology. He is a member of the research group studying Nanoscale Materials and contributes to projects involving graphene, 2D materials, and surface science.

His recent publications highlight expertise in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, core-level spectroscopy, and metal-graphene interfaces. Current projects include investigations into oxidation states at sub-nanoscale, oxygen adsorption mechanisms, and synchrotron-based material characterization. He serves on doctoral boards for the Nanotechnology PhD Program (Cycles XXIX–XXXIX) and participates in national initiatives like the National Quantum Science and Technology Institute.

Baraldi is based in Room 113 at the Department of Physics, with office hours available by appointment via email (abaraldi@units.it). His experimental work often utilizes beamlines at Elettra Synchrotron Radiation Facility and international facilities, collaborating with theoretical physicists such as Maria Peressi and Alfonso Baldereschi.
