Alessandro Aleo

Alessandro Aleo is a PhD candidate at Leiden University and Delft University of Technology, affiliated with the Faculty of Archaeology and the Department of Archaeological Sciences. His research is part of the ERC-funded project 'Ancient Adhesives: A Window on Prehistoric Technological Complexity.'

Research Focus:
Alessandro's work centers on recreating the life history of prehistoric adhesives and their tools to understand the technological and cognitive complexity of past human groups. He investigates manufacturing, usage, and discard patterns of ancient glues, analyzing their material properties and the technical knowledge required for their transformation. This research contributes to discussions on cultural innovations among prehistoric hunter-gatherers.

Educational Background:
He earned a Master's degree in 'Quaternary, Prehistory and Archaeology' from the University of Ferrara, Italy, in 2016.
