Alessandro Aiuppa

Alessandro Aiuppa is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Marine Sciences at the University of Palermo, Italy, with a distinguished career in volcanology and geochemistry. His research focuses on volcanic gas emissions, global geochemical cycles, and natural hazard assessment.

• Education: Geology degree (1995, University of Palermo); PhD in Geochemistry (2000, University of Palermo & Laboratoire Pierre Sue, France).

Research interests include volcanic gas geochemistry, carbon cycling in subduction zones, and development of volcano monitoring technologies. His work bridges field measurements with geochemical modeling to understand magmatic processes and degassing mechanisms.
