Alessandra Pino

Dr. Alessandra Pino is a Fixed-term Assistant Professor (RTDB) at the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Microbiology, University of Catania. Her primary research explores microbiology with emphasis on biotechnological applications of lactic acid bacteria and yeasts in fermentation processes. Key focuses include developing starter cultures and probiotics for functional foods, alongside investigating human intestinal microbiota, vaginal/endometrial ecosystems, and therapeutic probiotic interventions for dysbiosis.
