Alessandra Manieri

Alessandra Manieri is a Full Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the Department of Humanities, University of Salento. She specializes in archaic Greek lyric poetry, ancient rhetoric, aesthetics, and cultural competitions.

Her research focuses on the intersection of poetic theory (phantasia, enargheia), rhetorical traditions, and competitive practices in ancient Greece, including musical and athletic contests. Recent publications include Poetic-Musical Agons in Ancient Greece (2009) and Tryphon, The Tropes (2024).

Teaching duties cover courses in Greek Grammar, Rhetoric, and Literature, with flexible scheduling for non-traditional students. She advises a list of undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Humanistic Studies.
