Alena Robin

Alena Robin is the Department Chair and Associate Professor in Art History at the Department of Visual Arts, Western University. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and a B.A. from McGill University.

• Research Interests: Focus on religious art in New Spain (Colonial Mexico), particularly the Way of the Cross devotion through iconography and patronage. Explores Latin American art in Canadian institutions and its diaspora, emphasizing transatlantic cultural exchange and institutional support.
• Publications: Her work spans artistic representation of Christ, European print influence, and Latin American art in Canada, with recent projects on Antonio Enríquez and hemispheric art relations.
• Awards & Grants: Recipient of multiple SSHRC grants, including Partnership Engagement and Insight Development, alongside institutional awards like the Graham and Gale Wright Distinguished Scholar Award.
