Wrocław University of Environmental and Life SciencesAbout
Aleksandra Włoch is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics and Biophysics within the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science at Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. Her research focuses on biophysical studies of membrane interactions, particularly exploring the effects of bioactive compounds (e.g., polyphenols, metals, and synthetic lipids) on lipid membranes and cellular behavior. She investigates mechanisms underlying membrane fluidity, anticancer activity, and antioxidant properties of natural and synthetic molecules.
Her work spans interdisciplinary areas including drug delivery systems (liposomes), molecular interactions with DNA and cell membranes, and the design of novel lipid conjugates for therapeutic applications. Key research topics include:
- Anticancer agents' membrane interactions
- Antioxidant activity of natural extracts
- Synthetic lipid design for drug carriers
- Toxicity assessment of metal complexes
Recent publications highlight synergistic drug effects, membrane fluidity modulation, and structure-activity relationships of bioactive compounds. She has presented findings at international conferences such as the Euro Fed Lipid Congress and the Central European Biomedical Congress.
