About
Aleksandra Nail is a PhD researcher at the European University Institute (EUI) in the Department of Law, part of the 2024 cohort. She is supervised by Professor Silvia Suteu and actively contributes to the International Law Working Group.
Her research centers on the non-cooperation of states during proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights, situated at the intersection of public international law, human rights, and judicial politics. She explores how states engage—or disengage—with international legal mechanisms, analyzing the broader implications for international dispute settlement and the legitimacy of international courts.
Aleksandra's work is theoretically grounded in the politics of international law and the theory of judicial decision-making, reflecting a critical and interdisciplinary approach to international legal institutions.
She holds dual nationality in France and Poland and is currently developing her thesis within one of Europe’s leading academic institutions for advanced studies in law and social sciences.
She is involved in collaborative research environments and benefits from mentorship under a prominent scholar in constitutional and human rights law.
