About
Aleksandra Glogowska, PhD is a Lecturer in the Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She holds academic appointments within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and maintains active research affiliations with the Brain Tumor Research Alliance of Manitoba and the Department's cancer research group.
Education:
- PhD in Human Anatomy and Cell Science (University of Manitoba, 2010)
- MSc in Biotechnology (Environmental University of Poznan, Poland, 2001)
Research Interests: Focuses on cancer biology mechanisms, particularly molecular signaling pathways (STAT3, GPCR networks) and invasion mechanisms in glioblastoma (GB). Her work explores RXFP1 receptor biology, growth factor/protease interactions, and therapeutic targets in brain tumors. Uses molecular biology techniques to study cancer cell migration and metastasis.
Teaching: Teaches human anatomy to medical and dental students, with multiple teaching awards (2016-2021) from the Manitoba Medical Students’ Association and Dentistry programs.
Awards:
- CIHR National Student Research Poster Competition Silver Medal (2008)
- C.P. Leblond Research Presentation Award (2007)
- Travel Award from CAANCB/ACANBC (2007)
Research Contributions: Over 25 peer-reviewed publications in molecular oncology and neuro-oncology. Recent work emphasizes brain-penetrant therapies for HER2+ breast cancer metastases and CTRP8-RXFP1 signaling in glioblastoma motility.
