Alejandro Morales Vargas

Alejandro Morales Vargas is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Communication and Image of the University of Chile, specializing in digital communication. With a PhD in Communication from Pompeu Fabra University (2021), a Master's in Digital Content Management from the University of Barcelona (2016), and a Journalism degree from the University of Chile (2004), he brings extensive academic credentials to his role.

His research interests focus on website quality, digital media, information architecture, digital journalism, usability, and user experience. As an educator, he teaches undergraduate courses including 'Digital Tools and Design' and 'Digital User Experience,' and serves as a thesis advisor. At the postgraduate level, he founded Chile's first Diploma in Digital Journalism and Internet Media Management in 2007, serving as its academic coordinator until 2011.

Professionally, since 2007, he has served as Head of Digital Media at the University of Chile's Information and Library Services Directorate (SISIB), overseeing the university's main website and institutional portal platform. His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on website quality evaluation frameworks, digital media analysis, and information architecture. He is actively involved in multiple international research projects including 'CUVICOM' (2022-2025) and 'Seleccionar escuelas con un clic' (2025-2027).

Among his professional affiliations, he serves on the editorial board of Hipertext.net, is a member of the academic faculty of ILCE (Mexico), and acts as an evaluator for research projects at ANID Chile. His work bridges academic research with practical digital media implementation, making significant contributions to both scholarly understanding and real-world applications in digital communication.
