Albrecht Buschmann

Prof. Dr. Albrecht Buschmann is a Professor of Spanish and French Literature and Cultural Studies at the Institute for Romance Studies, University of Rostock, Germany. He serves as Director of the Institute starting from April 1, 2025, and is based at the "Philologicum" building. His research focuses on the interplay between translation, transnationalism, and exile networks, particularly in German-Spanish contexts in Mexico.

His work spans avant-garde movements, crime fiction, and cultural transformations, with notable projects like the DFG FOR 5700 (2025) on translation as a transnational act. He has supervised doctoral dissertations on topics ranging from Latin American manga glocalization to family novels and post-Francoist postmemorial narratives.
