Dr. Alberto Vesperoni is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at King's College London's Department of Political Economy, within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. He holds a PhD from the Stockholm School of Economics and an MSc from Bocconi University. His research focuses on political economy, development economics, and the economics of organization, with an emphasis on linking social interaction models (e.g., conflict and cooperation) to structural variables like economic inequality, ethnic diversity, and spatial concentration. He is affiliated with the Quantitative Political Economy research group, which bridges economics and political science using advanced quantitative methods and formal modeling.
His work addresses topics such as urban development thresholds, ethnic geography measurement, and the social impact of mining. Recent studies include analyzing NHS staff engagement's role in reducing turnover and presenting research at UN workshops. He supervises students in formal modeling of geo-political conflicts, inequality measurement, and spatial concentration. His research also intersects with the Political Economy of Peace and Conflict group and Environment and Public Policy initiatives.
