Prof. Alberto Moreira is a full Professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Director of the Microwaves and Radar Institute at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). He holds dual roles leading research in radar systems and space-based remote sensing. His work focuses on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology, including missions like TanDEM-X and Tandem-L.
Education:
- Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical Engineering from Aeronautical Technological Institute (ITA), Brazil (1984–1986)
- Doctorate (summa cum laude) in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Munich (1993)
Research Interests: Innovations in radar system design, SAR interferometry, bistatic SAR missions, digital beamforming, and spaceborne radar applications. His work has led to global high-resolution digital elevation models and advanced SAR techniques.
