About
Alberto Inga is a Full Professor and Deputy Director of the Department of Cellular, Computational, and Integrative Biology (CIBIO) at the University of Trento, Italy. He has held academic roles since 2010, including tenure-track Assistant Professor (2010–2011) and Associate Professor (since 2011). His research focuses on cancer biology, molecular genetics, and the functional genomics of tumor suppressor genes like TP53.
Education includes a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences (University of Genoa, 1991), M.Sc. in Applied Genetics (University of Pavia, 1995), and Ph.D. in Biology and Genetics (University of Genoa, 2004). He trained at institutions such as the National Institute for Cancer Research (Genoa) and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS, USA), specializing in mutagenesis, yeast genetics, and p53 functional assays.
Teaching responsibilities include chairing the Genetics course for the Bachelor of Biomolecular Sciences and modules on Molecular Basis of Disease and Cancer Genetics at the University of Trento. He has mentored over 20 Bachelor’s students, 2 Master’s students, and multiple Ph.D. candidates across programs in Genoa, Trento, and Porto.
His lab, the Laboratory of Transcriptional Networks at CIBIO, investigates transcriptional regulation, genome editing, and the interplay between proteins and DNA in cancer contexts. Key research areas include TP53’s role in tumor suppression and mRNA translation mechanisms.
