Alberto Ferrari is an Assistant Professor at the Enzo Ferrari Engineering Department of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. His expertise lies in wearable sensors, gait analysis, and biomaterials research. He holds a Master’s (2006) and PhD (2010) in Biomedical Engineering and Bioengineering from the University of Bologna.
Professional experience includes roles at Xsens Technologies (2010-2012), post-doctoral supervision at the LAMBDA laboratory (2012-2019), and founding mHealth Technologies (2015), a University of Bologna spin-off. Since 2020, he heads the MS2 Laboratory (Materials, Sensors, and Systems) at the Mario Veronesi Medicine Park in Mirandola.
Collaborating with global institutions, his research focuses on wearable sensor development for clinical and biomedical applications, expanding into biomaterials and transdisciplinary biological studies. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and one patent, and is a member of IEEE and the Italian Group of Electrical and Electronic Measurements (GMEE).
