Albert Farias

Albert Farias, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. He serves as Co-Director of the PhD program in Epidemiology and leads the ECCHO Lab, which focuses on cancer health disparities and healthcare delivery equity. His research addresses racial/ethnic disparities in cancer outcomes, particularly examining how medical care provision influences disparities. He has received notable awards including the AACR Minority Faculty Scholar (2019) and NIMHD Health Disparities Research Scholar (2016).

His work integrates methodological rigor with a focus on social determinants of health. Recent publications emphasize disparities in patient experiences with care, cancer survivorship, and healthcare equity. Notable studies include analyses of acute kidney injury in cirrhosis patients, communication disparities in colorectal cancer care, and barriers to vaccine completion among cancer survivors.
