Alana Rodriguez is a Researcher at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS). She earned an MA in Latin American Studies and an MPH in Epidemiology from San Diego State University, along with a BA in International Business and a Licenciatura en Negocios Internacionales from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Guadalajara.
Her research focuses on sexual and reproductive health disparities among rural adolescents and young women in Oaxaca and in Cuba, Indigenous perspectives on health and sexuality, and Cuban reproductive healthcare policies. She conducted thesis research on declining fertility rates in Cuba and the impact of socialist policies on reproductive choice.
Alana contributes to the Global Migration Education Initiative, a partnership between the University of Michigan and San Diego State University, designed to support K-12 educators in teaching global migration and inclusivity. She is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and collaborates with the International Institute.
