Alan Tan

Alan Tan is a Lecturer in the Information Systems & Analytics department at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business since September 2015. He teaches graduate courses on E-Business Technologies and Virtualization, bringing over 20 years of industry experience in high-tech fields.

Education: Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Real-Time Operating Systems research) from State University of New York, Buffalo (1995), followed by an M.S. in ECE from SUNY Buffalo (1992).

Research and Industry Experience: Former R&D Director at VMware (virtualization/cloud leader), R&D Manager at Mentor Graphics, and Software Engineer at ITRI, Taiwan. Specializes in software development tools, IDEs, web portals for embedded systems, and enterprise software. Holder of one U.S. patent.

Teaching Focus: Integrates industry insights into curriculum to provide practical knowledge of tech industry operations.
