Alan Rothfeld

Alan Rothfeld, MD, is a Professor of Practice at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), serving as Medical Director (MSPA) at the Riggs School of Health Sciences. He holds dual teaching roles at Santa Monica College and Los Angeles Valley College, instructing advanced respiratory and critical care courses. Previously, he served as a clinical professor and faculty member at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, alongside decades of clinical practice in pulmonary and critical care medicine. His professional journey includes roles as Medical Director at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center’s ICU and QueensCare Family Clinics.

Dr. Rothfeld’s education includes a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from Cornell University and a Medical Doctorate from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed residencies at Baylor-affiliated hospitals and a pulmonary fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill. His clinical expertise spans mechanical ventilation, respiratory physiology, and ICU management, with a focus on translational education and interprofessional practice.

His research interests intersect respiratory medicine, critical care, and clinical practice innovations, reflected in publications on topics like ventilator dependence, pulmonary edema, and gas exchange dynamics. He currently oversees the Respiratory Therapy Program at Los Angeles Valley College, emphasizing hands-on training for future healthcare professionals.
