Alan Reed is a Professor of Law and Associate Dean (Research and Innovation) at Northumbria University. He previously held roles as Professor of Criminal and Private International Law at Sunderland University and at Leeds University Law School. His academic journey includes a Master of Laws (LLM) in comparative law from the University of Virginia, supported by a Cambridge University Holland Scholarship. He has extensive experience in legal practice, including serving as a Tutor in Law at Trinity College, Cambridge, and working at Addleshaw Goddard in London.
Reed’s research focuses on criminal law, private international law, and comparative legal systems. His work explores reforms in areas like complicity law, strict liability crimes, and defences to homicide.
