Alan Monheit is a Professor of Health Economics in the School of Public Health at Rutgers University. He holds concurrent roles as a research professor at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research and its Center for State Health Policy. Previously, he directed the Division of Social and Economic Research at AHRQ and served on President Clinton’s Health Reform Task Force. His expertise spans health economics, public policy, and healthcare access.
Education: Ph.D. in Public Policy from the City University of New York (CUNY).
Research Focus: Dr. Monheit investigates the interplay between employment, health insurance, socioeconomic status, and healthcare utilization. His work addresses insurance market reforms, economic shocks’ impact on health outcomes, and disparities in children’s access to care. Methodologically, he employs quantitative analyses of national datasets to inform policy.
