Alan Mayhew is an Honorary Professor at the University of Sussex, affiliated with the Department of Law, Politics and Sociology (Professional Services). He is also a Jean Monnet Professor and Honorary Research Professor at the Sussex European Institute.
Education:
- MA and DPhil from the University of Oxford
- MSc Econ from the London School of Economics (LSE)
His research focuses on economic transition and integration in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as European Union economic policy and budgetary challenges. He leads the Wider Europe Research Programme at the Sussex European Institute.
Scientific Awards:

Mayhew has extensive practical experience advising governments in Central and Eastern Europe, including Janusz Lewandowski, Polish Member of the European Commission. He serves on the international advisory panel for the Polish Government's 2011 EU Presidency and is a Board Member at the European Policy Centre in Brussels.
