Professor Alan J Murphy is a leading academic in Maritime Engineering at the University of Southampton. He holds a First-Class BEng in Naval Architecture and a PhD in Experimental Hydrodynamics. His research focuses on decarbonizing maritime systems, emission reduction, and sustainable propulsion technologies. He has held leadership roles including Head of the Marine, Offshore and Subsea Technology Group at Newcastle University and is currently Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Maritime Engineering.
