Alan I. Appel is Professor of Law and Director of the International Tax Program at New York Law School. He specializes in international/domestic tax planning involving mergers, partnerships, and tax controversy matters. A graduate of NYLS, he began his career as an IRS trial attorney and later served as Counsel at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.
He has authored commentaries on IRS Section 1446 regulations and trains IRS attorneys. His publications appear in Tax Management International Journal, Journal of Taxation, and New York Law Journal. He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and serves on the Board of Advisors for Journal of International Taxation.
