Alan George is a Professor and Department Chair at the University of Pittsburgh's Swanson School of Engineering. He holds the R&H Mickle Endowed Chair and directs the NSF-funded SHREC (Space, High-performance, and REsilient Computing) Center, a $1M/year Industry-University Cooperative Research Center with 40+ partners. His research focuses on high-performance architectures, reconfigurable systems, and dependable computing for space and supercomputing applications. Dr. George has over $30M in sponsored research and authored 200+ refereed publications with his students.
Education: Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Florida State University (1987-1991). Prior to Pitt, he spent 20 years at the University of Florida, founding SHREC (then CHREC) and establishing the university's national-scale supercomputing center.
