Alan Fletcher

Professor Alan Fletcher is a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Contemporary Coronial Law at the University of Greater Manchester and serves as the National Medical Examiner for England and Wales since 2019. He maintains clinical practice as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and General Medicine at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. Previously, he pioneered the Medical Examiner role as Lead Medical Examiner in Sheffield (2008-2019), developing systems for death certification reform now implemented nationally.
