Alan F Karr

Alan F. Karr is a Research Professor at Temple University's Fox School of Business and Management, Department of Statistics, Operations, and Data Science. He also serves as Managing Director of the Data Science Institute at Temple, Senior Research Data Scientist at Fraunhofer USA Center Mid-Atlantic, and Principal of AFK Analytics, LLC. Previously, he held leadership roles at NISS, RTI International, and Johns Hopkins University. Karr earned a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Northwestern University.

Research Focus: Cross-disciplinary collaborations in software engineering, metagenomics, transportation, data confidentiality, healthcare, aging, and materials science. Over 50 postdoctoral fellows have been mentored under his guidance.

• Elected Member of ISI and Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars
• Founding editor of Journal of Privacy and Confidentiality

Publications: Authored three books, over 160 papers, and holds one patent. Recent work includes analyzing lane-changing behavior in transportation systems (2023).
