Alan Brisdon

Dr. Alan Brisdon is a Senior Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at University of Manchester, specializing in fluorine chemistry with 30+ years' experience. His research develops fluorinated ligands, materials, and catalytic systems using hydrofluorocarbon precursors. Current projects investigate fluorophosphines for catalysis and fluorographene applications.

He has developed novel synthetic routes to fluoroalkyl phosphines and perfluorovinyl metal complexes, with structural characterization via multinuclear NMR and XRD. Recent work examines halogen bonding in fluorocarbon adducts and catalytic activity prediction using NMR parameters. Awarded for teaching excellence, Dr. Brisdon directs chemistry education programs while maintaining industry consultancy roles.
